Whip It
Bliss Cavendar lives in small-town Texas and yearns to break free of her mother's world of beauty pageants and conformity. Bliss then finds a way of dealing with her small-town misery after she discovers a roller derby league in nearby Austin.

[Whip It] treats its mostly female cast of characters with respect, and this is (sadly) a rare treat in cinema. Hannah Montana may be this generation's Spice Girl, but Bliss Cavender is the one really waving the 'girl power' flag.
